Robert Finzi-Smith - Saluting Jamaica, 60 years strong

Posted August 05, 2022

In recognition of Jamaica's 60th anniversary of Independence, we are sharing the personal stories of our clients and friends on what this independence means to them.

"I think we are still growing up and we have a long a long way to go. I think we should pause and reflect on who we really are and not what people say we are.

Independence is like someone opening a gate and saying you may go now. Where we are today is a result of the direction we took outside the dates, some not conducive to our wellbeing but it is a blessing that we are here today sixty years later with a promise that we can and be better. 1998 was a special moment for me. I witnessed the Reggae Boyz move from pain and agony to victory and triumph as they qualified for the World Cup"
