Chorvelle Johnson Cunningham is the Chief Executive Officer of Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited – a subsidiary of Sagicor Group Jamaica. With over three decades of experience in the financial sector, the renowned leader joined the Sagicor team in January 2018. Chorvelle is a trailblazer in the financial services industry, with an impressive track record of success at the leadership level. She is a changemaker and a team builder who is results-oriented. Her leadership embraces competition and focuses on exceptional client experiences. She consistently develops and maintains strategies that carefully balance risk and rewards to meet targets and objectives.

Throughout her career, she has held numerous senior management positions in the Financial Industry, at organisations including PROVEN Wealth Limited, PROVEN Fund Managers Limited, First Global Financial Services, Scotia-DBG and Dehring, Bunting and Golding Limited. In addition to leading the Bank at Sagicor, Chorvelle currently heads the Group IT Steerco Committee.

Johnson Cunningham is a proponent of female empowerment and women shattering societal expectations. She is Jamaica’s first International Women’s Forum Fellow for the period 2015 and 2016, which allowed her to study Leadership at Harvard and INSEAD Business schools. Chorvelle is currently a past Chair and Director of the United Way of Jamaica and the current Chair of the Women’s Leadership Initiative membership committee (a sub-committee of the United Way).
With a diverse educational background, Chorvelle recently graduated from Harvard University having completed the Advanced Management Program. She holds the much sought after Chartered Banker, Master of Business Administration (MBA), offered by Bangor University. She is a member of the Chartered Banker Institute at the United Kingdom based institution. A trained teacher with specialisation in Business Education, Johnson Cunningham also holds a Bachelor degree in Professional Management from Nova Southeastern University.

A proponent of healthy living and enjoying a plant-based lifestyle, in 2012 Chorvelle published the book ‘Simply Vegan – The Jamaican Way’. The work explores with readers many aspects of a plant-powered lifestyle. She enjoys yoga, walking, athletics, football, listening to music and cooking.

Chorvelle is married to Vaughn, with three children.
