Sagicor Sigma Invitational Run Set for Sunday March 20 – Final of Two in-person Road Races For the Charity Event

The second of two in-person road races for the 24th staging of the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run happens this Sunday, March 20 with an Invitational Run in New Kingston. The Invitational Run follows on the heels of the successful staging of the Sigma Team ‘Bubble’ Run on Sunday March 13. 

The Invitational Run is open to fully vaccinated individuals; registration closes on Friday March 18. 

All proceeds from the Sagicor Sigma Run are in aid of the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH). In addition to the two in-person road races, there is also Virtual Run category, which remains open through to March 30. Participants in the virtual run should complete their 5.5K run and then upload their times via www.sagicorsigmarun.com to receive a finisher’s certificate. Final date for the Virtual Run is March 31.

According to race organisers, there will be health officials, road marshals, and volunteers along the route to ensure a smooth flow for the race. Additionally, there will be sanitization and hand-wash stations in keeping with the COVID-19 health and safety protocols as stipulated by the Ministry of Health and Wellness. Hydration, security, parking as well as road and traffic marshals are also in place. The road/traffic management will be under the control of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Traffic Division. Participants are being urged to follow directional signage and make their way to designated parking and holding areas ahead of road closures. Roads impacted by the race route will be closed between 7am and 10am. 

The Invitational Run will feature a double loop course for 5.5K (3.4 miles) starting on Knutsford Boulevard, then left onto Tobago Avenue, left onto Antigua Avenue, right onto Grenada Crescent, right onto Dumfries Road, left onto Holborn Road, left onto Dominica Drive, left onto Knutsford Boulevard, right onto Trinidad Terrace, left onto Altamont Crescent, left onto Pawsey Road, left onto Trafford Place, left onto St. Lucia Avenue, right onto Barbados Avenue, right onto Knutsford Boulevard to start/finish line.

The first wave of runners will go off at 7:30 am. Male runners will go off first then female runners; each group will go off in a wave of up to 220 persons at a time.

Following the race, the Sagicor Foundation will host an awards ceremony and announce funds raised for the KPH.
