As the world continues to grapple with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sagicor Life Jamaica, the leading health insurance provider on the island, is encouraging Jamaicans to remain vigilant in the fight to mitigate the spread of the virus and to protect themselves and loved ones by making the choice to get vaccinated.

With Jamaica now experiencing an increase in COVID-19 cases and deaths in recent weeks, the life and health insurance giant is urging Jamaicans to not let their guard down and continue to practise and adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Recently, the financial conglomerate held a vaccination drive over two days for its team members and up to four of their family and/or friends, which saw over 1,100 persons being vaccinated.

“Our team members on the front-line, especially our financial advisors and client service representatives experience first-hand the grief that our clients experience when they come in to process a death claim because they lost a loved one; it is an especially difficult period in our country’s history and as a company committed to the communities we operate in, we stand ready to support our clients and by extension our country as best as we can in this fight against COVID-19,” said Mark Chisholm, executive vice president, Sagicor Life, Individual Life Division.

Chisholm said he continued to encourage persons to ensure that life insurance coverage is part of their financial planning especially in times like these when a crisis can significantly impact your livelihood.

In addition to the company’s recommendation to get vaccinated and remain vigilant to protect self and loved ones from contracting COVID-19, Willard Brown, executive vice president, Sagicor Life, Employee Benefits Division, highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and managing one’s overall wellness.

“As a country, we are battling the COVID-19 pandemic, but there is also the fight against non-communicable diseases, which remains a major public health crisis,” he said.

To encourage persons to take care of their overall health and wellness, Sagicor recently launched its ‘Do it for You’ wellness campaign, which focuses on mental, physical, and financial wellness.

Brown shared that persons interested in getting more information to help on their wellness journey can visit the Sagicor Wellness Hub at and get insightful tips on ways to improve mental, physical, and financial wellness.
