Sagicor Life Inc Barbados Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 31, 2018
Sagicor has received positive attention for its tongue-in-cheek Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiative. The regional insurance company transformed speed humps at the Sagicor Financial Centre, at Collymore Rock, from yellow to pink. As drivers go over either of the two humps, they are met by signs which read “FELT THAT BUMP? Have your breasts checked.” This message is just one of the activities the company is undertaking this month to bring awareness to the seriousness of breast cancer.

Employees participated in the Walk for the Cure event which kicked off the month of awareness and last Friday, they wore pink attire and volunteered to pin ribbons on clients who made donations to the Breast Screening Programme. Over 200 ribbons were distributed during a six-hour period. Internally, employees also supported fundraising efforts with a raffle and bake sale.

Ingrid Card, Vice President, Marketing, Communications and Brand Experience, “The emphasis this month is really around awareness. We wanted to remind both women and men, about having their breasts checked so that any problems can be detected early. We are glad that phots have gone viral and that people are talking about the message.”
