St Johns, Antigua and Barbuda: Sagicor General Insurance Inc has partnered with the founder of Lady HorsePower Farm Motorsports, Renee Edwards-Ambrose to bring the first online edition of the LadyMex Workshop – “The Lady’s Basic Essential Guide to Knowing Her Car” to women in Antigua and St Lucia. The Workshop, which teaches women the basics about automotive safety, was launched at a webinar on Thursday 26th August 2021.

The webinar and workshop are all part of an initiative by Sagicor General to support women who are drivers to raise their comfort level and confidence about the vehicles they drive. The workshop, which begins on 27th September 2021 is also open to persons over 18 who are not yet drivers, but who would like to increase their understanding in preparation for when they do drive or own a vehicle.
Deborah Raoul, Assistant Manager for EC Operations for Sagicor General Insurance said, “As a general insurance company, Sagicor General is intimately aware of the incidents and accidents that occur on our roads. Workshops such as these equip drivers to make better decisions about their vehicles and when they’re driving, leading to decreased road incidents.”
Renee, who has been a car enthusiast since her teens and who founded the first all-female drag racing team in the Caribbean, brought her intimate knowledge about cars to the one-hour webinar and explained how the course would be rolled out. She said, “The course will go live on Monday 27th September and there are three lessons which will be available until Monday 11th October. You can do the three lessons anytime over that period following which you will receive a Certificate of Completion from Lady Mex. What you’re getting online is the experience and knowledge that I would bring to my Lady Mex seminars in Antigua, but in an online package.”
In addition to launching “The Lady’s Basic Essential Guide to Knowing Her Car”, Renee also took some time to answer some basic questions from the audience about her approach to vehicle safety and how one should consider the decision of which car or vehicle one should purchase.
