Sagicor Strengthens Commitment to The Learning in Harmony Homework Programme
Bridgetown, Barbados : Sagicor has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development and education by continuing its support of the Learning in Harmony Homework Programme, an initiative that has been changing young lives since 2013.
The programme currently serves 19 students between the ages of 4 and 16 from the New Orleans, Chapman Lane, and surrounding Bridgetown districts. Sessions are held three times weekly, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays under the guidance of two dedicated tutors. In addition to academic support, students benefit from meals provided during the programme.
Officer attached to the New Orleans Community Police Outpost and Coordinator of the programme Sergeant Wendell Weekes, highlighted the significance of the ongoing collaboration. “It brings a form of relief to the parents of children in these areas. They are happy to know that their children are being given an opportunity to reach their full potential. We cherish this support from Sagicor and hope it will continue for years to come.”
Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sagicor Life Inc. (Barbados) and Chief Revenue Officer, Paul Inniss, underscored the importance of the initiative. “We recognize the importance of the Learning in Harmony Programme that the police community unit organizes. It is a critical initiative that is important to the children, the community and our nation, Barbados. We are very happy to continue this partnership and look forward to seeing the results and benefit in terms of the development of our children.”
Since its inception, the programme has recorded significant success, with many participants showing marked improvement in their academic performance.
