Sagicor General Rewards Safe Driving Through Sagicor Drive Leaderboard Challenge
Bridgetown, Barbados : Sagicor General Insurance Inc. (SGI) is redefining road safety in Barbados with its innovative Sagicor Drive programme, a rewards-based initiative that is rapidly gaining traction among policyholders.
Powered by the Sagicor Go App, the programme encourages safer driving habits by rewarding users, without penalties, for responsible behaviour on the road. As participation continues to grow, SGI says the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Assistant Vice President of Innovation and Business Systems, Andre Barrow, says the initiative represents a shift in how Sagicor engages with customers.
“Sagicor Drive is our approach to incentivising road safety among our policyholders. It’s a rewards-only programme, meaning there are no penalties, so clients benefit simply by driving well,” Barrow explained. “Participants accumulate points over time, and those in the winners’ row are the individuals who earned the most points over the past year. We are seeing steady monthly growth in users, which tells us the programme is resonating and we are excited to welcome even more clients in 2026.”
Mr. Barrow made the comments during the recent Sagicor Drive Leaderboard Challenge prize-giving even, where top-performing drivers were recognised for their consistency and commitment to safe driving. Taking top honours was Stevenson Holligan, a Sagicor customer since 2023, who walked away with the grand prize, which included new tyres, a car kit and a valet.
A clearly elated Mr. Holligan described the win as both surprising and rewarding.
“I’ve never really won anything before, so this feels amazing. I’ve always had a good experience with Sagicor and the rates are reasonable and the service has been solid. Since downloading the app, I’m definitely more conscious about how I drive. It keeps me in check and I would encourage anyone to sign up.”
Beyond the prizes, SGI says the real success of Sagicor Drive lies in its impact, which is encouraging behavioural change and contributing to safer roads across the island. With growing adoption and strong customer feedback, the company views the programme as a key part of its broader commitment to innovation, customer value and national road safety.
As Sagicor Drive continues to expand, more Barbadians are discovering that safe driving doesn’t just protect lives, it pays.
