Sagicor General Brings Weather to Life with Mr. Weatherman’s School Tour

April 14, 2026

Bridgetown, Barbados: Classrooms and playgrounds across the island came alive with excitement, curiosity, and a touch of adventure as Sagicor General partnered with renowned meteorologist and author Brian Shields, affectionately known as Mr. Weatherman, for an engaging and educational school tour.

The Stormy Day Pals School Tour made stops at Bay Primary, Hilda Skeene Primary, and St. Elizabeth Primary schools, reaching hundreds of young minds through an interactive experience designed to make weather awareness both fun and unforgettable.

From the moment Mr. Weatherman stepped into each school, students were swept into a world of storytelling, science, and safety. Through lively readings of his book, Stormy Day Pals, he transformed complex weather concepts into exciting, relatable lessons, sparking curiosity while reinforcing the importance of being prepared. This was more than just a reading; it was an experience.

Students eagerly participated in interactive discussions, asked insightful questions, and walked away with a deeper understanding of how weather impacts their everyday lives. The energy in each room was electric, with laughter, learning, and discovery at every turn.

Sagicor’s team members complemented the sessions with key messages about safety, preparedness, and protection; reinforcing the idea that being ‘weather wise’ starts from a young age.

As part of the initiative, schools received signed copies of Stormy Day Pals for their libraries, along with branded activity sheets and educational materials to continue the learning journey long after the tour has ended. Students also enjoyed fun giveaways and memorable photo moments, proudly embracing the message: “Be Weather Wise with Sagicor.”

Through this initiative, Sagicor General continues to champion community outreach, education, and youth resilience. By bringing together literacy, science, and safety, the tour did not just educate, it sparked inspiration.

“When children understand the world around them, they are better equipped to navigate it,” Patrick Hinkson, President and CEO of Sagicor General Insurance shared. “This initiative is about empowering young minds with knowledge that can make a real difference.” He further stated.

Through this dynamic partnership, Sagicor General once again demonstrated that its impact goes far beyond insurance; championing education, safety, and stronger communities across the region.
