Adopt-A-Classroom

January 01, 0001

Employees from the Scottsdale and Mesa Riverview offices spent most of the day on Friday, December 21st, 2018 at Wilson Elementary School with a classroom full of 2nd graders. Santa’s elves greeted the children as they came in from recess with treats and snacks before the arrival of Santa. Once Santa arrived, the kids made a snowman out of rice crispy treats and other candies while Santa read to them. Each child received a large bag full of presents that included new clothes and shoes plus 2 or 3 gifts from their wish list sent to Santa. The teacher was not to be left out and received a nice gift card from Sagicor! The party ended with a pizza lunch and Santa going back to the North Pole.

Most of the students at Wilson Elementary School are below the poverty level and many of them qualify as homeless. Administrators from the school started the Adopt-A-Classroom program over 20 years ago as some of the kids did not receive presents at Christmas time. Sagicor is proud to be one of the first companies to sponsor a classroom back in the early days of the program and every year we find a way to make the experience a little better for the kids and the volunteers.
