September 06, 2022
In celebration of the momentous occasion of Trinidad and Tobago’s 60th anniversary as an independent nation, regional financial services entity Sagicor donated $60,000 to 60 students throughout the country to assist with their expenses for the new academic year.

These students will be supported through several NGOs: the School for the Deaf (Heritage Children's Centre) in Tobago,  the Loveuntil Foundation; the Single Mothers’ Association of Trinidad and Tobago; the Single Fathers of Trinidad and Tobago; the Mayaro Past Pupils Association, as well as the Point Fortin East Secondary School.

Asha Nabbie, assistant vice president, marketing, for Sagicor Life Inc, said, “Sagicor continues to endorse the call of the first prime minister of our then newly independent nation, Dr Eric Williams, when he said our children carry the future of [the nation] in their school bags. Sagicor has been a part of the fabric of Trinidad and Tobago since the 1850s, and with every generation, that message holds true. Sagicor is really pleased to support this generation in a meaningful way and we look forward to continuing our support for years to come.”

During the handover presentation of the book vouchers, all of the NGOs expressed their gratitude and assured that the donation will make a difference in the lives of the recipients, both children and parents.
