Sagicor advises to check your financial health

April 13, 2021

The  COVID-19  global  health  pandemic has  changed  our  daily  lives  in several ways over the last year and continues to do so. While it has been fraught with stresses, it has also brought to the fore the need to plan ahead wherever possible.

This from Jacinto Martinez, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Sagicor Life Inc. He said,“ We all strive to make a better life for ourselves and our families. The last year has really pushed us to find innovative ways to do that. We know life happens. Things happen unexpectedly.COVID-19has  certainly  taught  us  that. So,  it  is  better  to  use  the  means  we  have  now  to  prepare  for  the future.”

He  suggested  some  simple  ways  to  prepare  for  the  future, including  reviewing  your  financial documents with your advisor or financial planner once a year or when major life changes occur including marriage, death or the birth of a child and thin king actively about the kind of life you want to enjoy in retirement and the funds needed to do so. He added, “We tend to think of health only in terms of our bodies, but we should also be mindful of our financial health. How much do we need to adequately save and invest for a rainy day? Do you have the funds to manage a critical illness, such as cancer, stroke or heart attack? These are factors that we should be considering long before something happens. Insurance is about planning for unexpected, future risks.”

The insurance executive further explained, “I’ve been in the insurance industry for over 25 years and I’ve seen how financial planning gives people  the  opportunity to create a  better  life  for themselves and their families. On the flip side, I’ve also seen how the lack of a comprehensive plan has had long-term repercussions. I won’t wish that for anyone. That’s why I’ve joined the insurance industry ”Martinez said Sagicor is about wise financial thinking for life. “Financial planning must become an essential part of Trinidad and Tobago’s culture. Like any lifestyle habit, it is much better when it is started early, as it becomes a normal part of our budgeting routine. But it is never too late. Start planning now.” He said, “Sagicor  can  help  you  take  the  steps  needed  to  plan  your  financial  future. We have helped generations  to  navigate  difficult  circumstances  over  our  180  years. Whatever you’re interested in, whether saving for retirement or protecting your family or both, Sagicor can help.”
