Phoenix Children’s Hospital
Sagicor is committed to supporting many worthy causes in our communities; Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH) in Arizona is one of them. Over the past several years, we have donated to PCH in the form of money and volunteer time.
Each year, PCH partners with a television station to host a telethon and a radio station to host a radiothon. Sagicor designates money for these fundraisers, and employees from our Arizona offices volunteer to work the phone bank, answering calls and taking donations.
Trick-or-Treat: In 2019, we volunteered at PCH’s annual Trick-or-Treat Halloween event. As an event sponsor, we donated $2,500 and prepared approximately 200 Trick-or-Treat kits for patients who were unable to leave their room during the event and 100 similar kits for those who came around trick-or-treating. On the day of the event, our team also dressed up in costumes and greeted the kids at our booth.
Child Life Zone: The Child Life Zone is a state of-the-art play area that provides an escape for patients and their families from daily life in the hospital. Each week, Child Life plays a trivia game in the Zone and broadcasts it live, up to the patients’ rooms on their closed-circuit TV channel. Patients are able to participate by calling in with their answers. Our volunteers help to administer the quiz and were able to help deliver the prizes to the winners’ rooms.
