Shane Howell recently joined the Sagicor family in the capacity of Vice President, Employee Experience & Strategy at Sagicor with oversight for Sagicor General, Sagicor Life and Sagicor Bank within the Southern Caribbean. The Senior HR practitioner with over 15 years’ experience championing various human resources and organisational development initiatives is a student of Organisational Psychology. Leveraging his experiences across the financial services, hospitality, telecommunications, education and consulting sectors, he believes that people are at the nexus of strategy and business success and therefore must be treated to in a very intentional and humanistic fashion.

 

Shane holds a Masters in Organisational Psychology and is a SHRM Senior Certified Professional.  Shane served in various leadership capacities for over 10 years in the Human Resource Management Association of Barbados climaxing as the President of the Association for three (3) years. He was also a past member of the Advisory Committee to the Minister of Labour and consistently has been a voice for improving the way human resources is practiced at the organisational and national levels.  

 

Shane has spoken in multiple forums including the HRMAB Annual Conference, the BIBA Conference, DisruptHR. He remains passionate about the topic of employee engagement and the lesser discussed factors which influence it such as the power of trust in the workplace and its impact, an area where he previously led research.
