The Care Project receives support from Sagicor to start the New Year

St John’s, Antigua: In order to ensure that the Care Project started off 2021 on a positive note, the team at Sagicor donated a dryer to the organisation, which falls under the purview of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment.

At the end of each year, Sagicor explores and selects from several opportunities to serve the less fortunate in the community; in 2019 the team organized a luncheon at which they served members of the differently abled community, complete with entertainment and gifts to the residents of the selected home. Due to covid-19 protocols and restrictions, the team brainstormed various ideas to provide support in a different way and once they heard of the need of the Care Project a decision was made.

Marisia James, Branch Manager for Sagicor Life (Eastern Caribbean) Inc, said of the donation, “Each year, the team looks forward to our end of year activity, and 2020 was no different. We were happy to provide this dryer which will greatly assist the team at the Care Project in getting their work done in an efficient manner.”

Sandy Daniel, Operations Manager for the Care Project expressed her appreciation for the donation. She said, “The Care Project is very grateful to Sagicor for its timely donation of this dryer. At organisations like ours the ability to do one’s job in an efficient manner is always a challenge, and a donation like this has great impact. Not only can we offer continued great care to those in our charge, but the significance of having freshly laundered linens and clothes cannot be overstated.”

The Care Project provides round -the- clock residential care and life skills support for approximately 16 persons, many of whom face developmental challenges that need medical and personnel assistance. The organisation has been operating since 2009.
