Students entered Common Entrance Exam full of confidence thanks to Sagicor

July 24, 2020

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Just a few days before sitting the annual Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination, several students received a timely confidence booster in the form of good luck packages from Sagicor Life Inc.

The leading financial institution distributed “Cool Tools for School” kits to randomly selected children insured with Sagicor and children of Sagicor employees, who were preparing themselves to complete the July 14th examination.

Organized and presented by the company’s Customer Experience Team, the kits contained branded and personalized clipboards, branded face masks, pencil cases stocked with erasers, pencils and rulers, in addition to tips to assist with last minute exam preparations.

Speaking on the initiative, Cynthia Blackman, Manager in the Customer Experience Unit, said the kits served a double purpose, first and foremost to ensure the children had all the tools they need to complete the important examination, but also to boost their self-esteem.

“Each year these children are put under tremendous pressure prior to this exam, but 2020 presented a greater challenge. This year’s class was forced to get themselves ready in a much different environment, dictated by the impact of COVID-19. The pandemic disrupted the preparation of many students, which was likely to result in an increased level of nervousness for some. We therefore wanted to find a way to keep their confidence as high as possible”, she said.

This goal was certainly achieved as several students expressed their excitement and gratitude upon receiving the kits.

“This is great! It has my name on it!” exclaimed Amari Jordan of St. Giles Primary School. “Wow! This is the first time my name was printed on anything and that makes me very happy. I am very grateful”, said Takiyah Clarke of Welches Primary School.
