Sagicor Life recently held a butterfly release ceremony in honour of lupus survivors, which included the e release of over 100 live butterflies at its head office in New Kingston.
The ceremony, which included guests of the Lupus Foundation of Jamaica, was done last month in observance of May as Lupus Awareness Month.
The Sagicor Life building’s reception areas and walkways were also decorated with butterflies throughout the month as a way of honouring lupus survivors and raising awareness of the condition. One notable symptom of lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease, is a skin rash on the cheeks that takes the appearance of a butterfly.
