Sagicor General Insurance Inc, through its corporate agent TLS Financial Services Ltd, was pleased to collaborate with the Eastern Business and Merchants Association (EBMA) to support students from four primary schools in the Sangre Grande community.

The EBMA donated 10 tablets, 10 SEA prep packages, various stationery items and printer toner, as the association aimed to assist those schools whose student population do not have access to basic supplies.  The schools that benefited from this initiative were Guaico Government Primary School, Grosvenor Presbyterian Primary School, Sangre Grande Government Primary, and Plum Mitan Presbyterian Primary School.

EBMA president Ricardo Mohammed, said, “The EBMA wants to be a business association that is known for helping and assisting in the Sangre Grande community. The EBMA is not only about our members and the business community but it’s also about making our community a better place for everyone.”

Keston Howell, President and CEO, Sagicor General, said, “Sagicor believes that the children are the future of the nation. We were pleased to embark on an initiative to assist primary schools in the community through our corporate agent as helping the kids in the community gives us an opportunity to live our vision in a tangible way.”

The EBMA, which has 103 members thus far, is a newly formed non-profit organisation that is dedicated to “the holistic development of the members of the business and merchant community” in east Trinidad.
