Regional insurer Sagicor was pleased to donate over TT$22,000 to the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society, as they continue their work fighting the deadly disease.

Asha Nabbie, assistant vice president, marketing, at Sagicor, said she knows the funds would help support the cancer society in its vital day to day operations. “While self-examination is the first point of protection, seeking professional help via trained personnel, such as those available at the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society or via a mammogram can assist in not only easing anxiety but also in increasing survival rates of patients through early detection.”

The donation follows on from the October 2022 breast cancer awareness campaign, where Sagicor promoted the theme “Are You Seeing the Signs?” The campaign aimed to bring awareness to the importance of screening for early detection, as it is the first line of defence. In addition to a robust media campaign, specially designed shirts were sold in Sagicor’s operating territories across the southern Caribbean, the proceeds of which have been donated to local organisations that support the fight against breast cancer.
