Day one of the JTA/Sagicor National Athletics Championships gets underway today at the National Stadium when over 1,000 promising student/athletes from across the 14 parishes showcase their talents in track and field.

Over the past few days Jamaica Observer has profiled 11 of the parishes, and today we feature the final three parishes.

Parish — St Elizabeth

Boys registered: 39

Girls registered: 40

2018 result: Fourth with 185 points

Co-ordinator: Patrick Malcolm

Co-ordinator's quote: The team is an all-stars team and is well rounded. St Elizabeth have won the parish championship title three times before and we are hoping for our fourth hold. Despite being smaller in numbers than some of the other teams, we believe we have the quality to pull it off this year.

Parish — St Mary

Girls registered: 45

2018 result: 11th with 54 points

Prospective points earner girl: U13 Cheyenne Bennett, U15 Rechann Walker

Co-ordinator: Wayne Titan

Co-ordinator's quote: We have had a number of training camps this year and we are expecting to improve our overall performance and certainly expect to do better this year in the cricket ball throw for U11 boys and events for U13 and U15 for girls.

Parish — Trelawny

Boys registered: 45

Girls registered: 40

2018 result: 9th with 86 points

Prospective points earner boys: Sanjay Seymore and Tramaine Todd in U13

Prospective points earner girls: U11 Pashagaya Forrester and Stachel Greene U15

Co-ordinator: Winston Robinson for the last three years

Co-ordinator's quote: Preparation didn't go as well as we would have liked, as we only got to train on Fridays. However, we expect to score heavily in the lower age group categories and are hopeful we will finish in the top half of the table.
