Gasparillo flood victims get Sagicor relief
Flooding remains a perennial problem in Trinidad and Tobago. With 2020 being the most active hurricane season in recorded history, with 30 named storms, 13 hurricanes and 6 major hurricanes having formed, it is no surprise that this year has seen its share of flooding.
As part of its ongoing commitment to being “a great company committed to improving the lives of the people in the communities in which we operate”, Sagicor partnered with the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation and their Disaster Management Unit to distribute disaster relief packages, both food and cleaning supplies, to residents in the Gasparillo area who were affected by flooding.
Sagicor volunteer Rameshwar Mahadeo said, “I participated in the Gasparillo flood relief because it’s natural to me to help someone in need. Everyone has a down time and it’s our responsibility to help them up. I felt sympathy for the families we interacted with…the joy on their faces knowing that they aren’t forgotten and someone is there to help made it more than worth it.”
