Sagicor Team continues Project Kindness volunteer initiative

June 16, 2021

Port of Spain, Trinidad—Project Kindness, a team-driven volunteer project that seeks to take a hands-on approach to supporting the communities in Trinidad and Tobago, saw Sagicor team members donating children’s clothing to the Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CADV) on Tuesday, June 9.

This clothing donation continues the relationship Sagicor has developed with the Coalition, as it is one of the NGOs that is participating in Sagicor’s Protect Our Women campaign, and has been the beneficiary of other CSR initiatives over the years, including donations of personal care items and funds to support the NGO’s programmes and services.

Robert Trestrail, President and CEO, Sagicor Life Inc said, “At Sagicor, corporate social responsibility is ingrained in everything we do; it’s inherent in our vision as a Group and our team is enthusiastic about supporting activities that help build our communities. Project Kindness has allowed us to take this a step further with our team members leading and truly living our Vision.”

Sabrina Mowlah-Baksh, the general manager of the Coalition, said, “Covid-19 has impacted families in unimaginable ways. We are not only losing lives but livelihoods as well. This situation requires compassionate responses from all of us. We may not be able to give financially but there are so many other ways we can demonstrate support for vulnerable families. Sagicor continues to lead by example in the corporate word by showing what is possible. Thank you, Sagicor!”

CADV is a non-profit organisation that was formed in 1988 by Diana Mahabir-Wyatt, the then Chair of The Shelter for Battered Women and Children in Port of Spain, and Radhica Saith, President of the Halfway Home for Battered Women. CADV is made up of a range of organisations and volunteers that provide support services for persons affected by all forms of domestic violence, including child abuse, familial abuse, intimate partner abuse and elder abuse.
