Shani McGraham-Shirley- Saluting Jamaica, 60 years strong

Posted August 05, 2022

In recognition of Jamaica's 60th anniversary of Independence, we are sharing the personal stories of our clients and friends on what this independence means to them.

"Reaching 60 gives me hope. It means a lot to see where we are coming from, where we are now and where we are going. As we celebrate our 60th year of independence, I see possibilities and my wish is that as a nation we are governed by love. With this we would be unstoppable.

I had the absolute pleasure of representing my country in 1998 at the Ms. Universe Pageant. At 18, I was unconcerned about winning and simply carried by true Jamaican energy and personality- lively and vivacious and gave the world a piece of who we are as a people.

I love dancehall! It is the special way the rhythm hits you that makes you move your body with the special facial expressions as only a Jamaican can."
