Sagicor's acquisition of Life of Barbados and of Global Life, a subsidiary of Life of Jamaica, increased the size and scope of the operations in the Cayman Islands.

On January 1, 2004, the operations of Global Life and Capital Life were integrated and on February 3, this new entity was rebranded to Sagicor Life of the Cayman Islands Limited. On November 30, 2005 Sagicor Life of the Cayman Islands Limited acquired a 51% interest in Cayman General Insurance Company Limited, which was rebranded in September 2006 to Sagicor General Insurance (Cayman) Ltd. These developments, which form part of Sagicor's vision and strategy, also represent Sagicor's renewed commitment to the Cayman Islands.

The Sagicor Group was established in 1840 as The Barbados Mutual Life Assurance Society. Sagicor is a leading provider of financial services in the region. Its services include life and health insurance, property and casualty (general) insurance, investment and asset management and brokerage.
